What cultural or social values, beliefs, etc., do we
share with the society or culture in which the text was written? Why have they
endured? We share that we are all members of the U.S. population and many of us
at times have fallen on financial hardship and possibly health related
problems. The culture in the text has endured due to the economic forecasts
that the U.S. faces and how the deficit in the economy is challenged.
What cultural or social values, beliefs, etc., do we
not share why or why not? The upper clsss might not have experienced to a
degree the financial hardships that might have a negative impact on their
health and well-being. They are a society that does not have to want and is
financially secure and stable in economic situations.
If the text is written in a culture distant or
different from our own, what social values, beliefs, etc., connect to reflect
our own culture? What cultural or social values, beliefs, etc., can we not see
in our own culture? The text states the culture looks at the economically
challenged individuals and populations.
If the text is written in our culture but in a
different historical time how are the
social values have, beliefs, etc., developed or changed over time? The
historical time of the Great Recession of 2007-2009 was a time where certain
things were negatively impacted such as the housing marketing which may have
been affordable for the people who could not have home ownership or for the
people who were losing their homes and thus their health and well-being might
have been affected.
